The Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington (RAMW) unveiled the nominees for the 2025 RAMMY Awards on Monday, April 14, with several Alexandria businesses earning recognition. Notably, four local restaurants have been nominated in various categories.
Among the nominees is Andy’s Pizza, which has been selected for the newly introduced Fast Casual Restaurant of the Year category. With locations at 107 N. Fayette St. in Old Town and 2429 Mandeville Lane in the Carlyle District, Andy’s Pizza is one of 11 locations in the DC area. Known for its New York-style pizza by the slice, the restaurant has garnered multiple accolades, including being named world champion for best traditional cheese pizza at the 2021 International Pizza Expo in Las Vegas. Founded by Montgomery County native Andy Brown in 2018, Andy’s Pizza continues to expand its presence across the region.
Atlas Brew Works, a local brewery located at 2429 Mandeville Lane in Alexandria, has received a nomination in the Beer Program of the Year category. This neighborhood production brewery, known for its artisanal beer offerings, operates multiple locations across the DC metro area, including in Ivy City, Navy Yard, and at Washington Reagan National Airport.
In the Manager of the Year category, Lorena Reyes of Founding Farmers has earned a nomination. Founding Farmers, which recently opened a new Alexandria location at 461 Swann Ave. in the Potomac Yard area, is well-known for its commitment to serving classic American fare with a modern twist.
While an anonymous panel of food writers selects nominees in the above categories, public voting will determine winners in several other categories, including Favorite Gathering Place, Best Brunch, Hottest Sandwich Shop, Best Bar, and Favorite Fast Bites. Voting will take place from May 1 to 31 via NBC Washington.
In the Best Brunch category, Josephine, a French brasserie located at 109 S. St. Asaph St. in Old Town Alexandria, is vying for votes. The restaurant, inspired by classic Parisian eateries, brings the charm and culinary traditions of France to the heart of Alexandria, with a delightful brunch menu to match.
Additionally, Andy’s Pizza has also been nominated in the Favorite Fast Bites category, adding to its growing list of accolades.
It is important to note that, according to Washingtonian Magazine, restaurants that are not dues-paying members of RAMW are only eligible for publicly voted categories. As a result, many prominent DC-area establishments are excluded from major award categories such as New Restaurant of the Year and Chef of the Year.
