Round Table Pizza is steadily growing its presence in San Antonio, with two new locations currently in development — one of which is being built on the site of a former local favorite. The California-based pizza chain is moving into the former home of Bei Fang Chinese Restaurant, located near the USAA headquarters along Interstate 10. Bei Fang closed its doors earlier in 2024 after years of serving the community.
When MySA visited the site on Thursday, April 10, remnants of Bei Fang’s signage were still visible, including a large banner that can be seen from the nearby highway. However, change is clearly underway. New Round Table Pizza decals now cover the windows, partially hiding the interior where construction crews continue to reshape the space.
According to public filings on the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation website, construction at the I-10 site is slated to continue through at least April 30. While no official opening date has been announced, the visible progress suggests that the restaurant may debut in the coming months. MySA has reached out to Round Table Pizza representatives for an update on when customers can expect the new location to open its doors.
This isn’t Round Table Pizza’s first foray into the San Antonio market — and it won’t be the last. The company launched a new location in June 2024 in Stone Oak, along US-281, marking a fresh start after the closure of an earlier location at 842 Northwest Loop 410. That location, which opened in 2022, quietly shut down in early 2024. Despite that setback, the brand appears committed to expanding in San Antonio’s growing suburban landscape.
Further signaling that commitment is another upcoming location planned for 4272 TPC Parkway, according to a separate project listing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. Once both the I-10 and TPC Parkway locations are operational, Round Table Pizza will have three active outposts across the San Antonio area.
Founded in 1959, Round Table Pizza is known for its hand-rolled dough, premium toppings, and a medieval-themed atmosphere. While it originated in California, the brand has been expanding beyond the West Coast, tapping into markets like San Antonio where demand for diverse dining options remains strong.
The company’s renewed push into the Alamo City reflects not only a growing appetite for gourmet pizza options but also the evolution of San Antonio’s dining scene — where national chains continue to stake a claim alongside long-standing local favorites.
As Round Table Pizza finalizes construction and prepares to launch its newest locations, local pizza lovers will soon have more options to explore — and perhaps a new neighborhood favorite to add to their rotation.
